Summer Jam Day Camp Updates

July 9, 2012

Summer Jam Day Camp is full on Tuesday July 10, Wednesday July 11 and Thursday July 12.  There are also very few spaces left for Friday July 13.

Also a  Note to Parents

Due to changing regulations at the YMCA we would ask that any parents of “non-swimmers” please provide a life jacket for their child to wear in the pool.  The YMCA does have some jackets but won’t necessarily have enough for everyone.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Camp Staff.

It is time to start making plans for summer!

May 10, 2012

After what feels like forever, the weather is finally starting to turn nice.  Unbelievably school will be over in only a few more weeks, which means it is time to start making plans for summer.  If you are stumped for what to do with the kids this summer, Huronia Museum has the solution.  Send them to our Summer Jam Day Camp.  We have been offering this camp for many years and strive to provide a fun and safe environment in which your children will thrive over the summer months.

Summer Jam Day Camp is running from July 2 to August 31 this year.  We are open to children between the ages of 5 and 12 years of age and while pre-registration is not required it is strongly recommended.  Parents can register with Summer Jam Day Camp by the dayor by the week, as a result we may have days throughout the summer that reach capacity and pre-registering will eliminate unnecessary worry.

Our camp is based on weekly themes with games and activities to correspond.  We will also swim Monday and Thursday at the YMCA as well as taking weekly field trips and having pizza day on Wednesdays.  We will also take advantage of the nice weather and spend a part of each day at Little Lake Park enjoying the playground there.

While we are still working on finalizing our daily activity schedule and confirming our field trips, the list of dates and weekly themes is as follows:

July 2-6:  You Don’t Want to Myth This

July 9-13:  Art Start

July 16-20:  Happy Holidays

July 23-27:How to Make Your Garden Grow

July 30-August 3:  Camp Olympics

August 7-10:  So You Think You Can Cook!

August 13-17:  Cloak and Dagger

August 20-24:  Glorious Games

August 27-31:  Dog Days of Summer

A more complete daily calendar will be posted soon but if you would like to register your child for camp now you can download our Registration Form fill it out and return it to Huronia Museum to reserve your child`s spot in camp.  Please also read the cancellation policy attached to the registration form.

Our camp runs from 9AM to 4PM, Monday to Friday and the cost is $22 per day for museum members and $24 per day for non members.  We also offer early drop off between 8AM and 9AM and late pick up between 4PM and 5PM.  Each of these options costs an additional $1.

If you have any questions about our camp please feel free to call Gillian at Huronia Museum 705-526-2844.

Summer is in full swing

July 11, 2011

Our Summer Jam day camp is up and running.  With one full week under our belts we have settled into a nice routine.  There have been a lot of familiar faces returning to us, but lots of new ones too.

The kids have even been on their first field trip, visiting a local dairy farm.  Everyone came back to the museum  with tales of cows and tractors.  They were dirty and tired, which are usually two sure signs that they had a good time.

In the coming weeks they will be going to the Elmvale Jungle Zoo, a magic show, the Wye Marsh and so much more.  It looks to be a very busy summer full of games and crafts and fun.  The weather has been great so far, but hot enough that the kids are extra excited to jump in the pool on swim days.

Colouring Contest Winner

June 24, 2010

We have finally picked the winner from our Summer Jam Coouring contest.  The winning entry was submitted by 7 year old Ethan, who has won a free week of camp at Huronia Museum

Done by Ethan, age 7

His picture was chosen in a draw from among the 24 entries submitted.  That was a record number of submissions for our colouring contest.

However all of our entries looked great and were very carefully coloured by the artists, so I thought I would post a few more for people to take a look at.

The start of camp is just days away and I hope that all of our entrants will join us for a little fun and excitement this summer.

Thank you to all of the children who entered the contest.  You did beautiful work.
