P.A. Day Camp

November 4, 2011

Unfortunately we were unable to hold a P.A. Day Camp on Friday, November 4, 2011 due to a prior booking.  To any parents with children in the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board I apologize.  We do our best to cover all the P. A. days, but sometimes we just can’t do it.

Our next P.A. Day Camp will be held on Friday, November 2011, which is a day off for the Simcoe County District School Board.  Camp will start at 9 AM and wrap up at 5 Pm.  We will spend the day playing games, doing crafts, exploring the museum and, if the weather holds, going to the village as well.

The cost is $22 per child and to register you can contact the museum at 705-526-2844 or by email at education@huroniamuseum.com

For first time P.A. Day campers we will need a PA Day Registration Form.  This form will be good for all P.A. Day Camps held in the 2011-2012 school year.

Halloween Fun at Camp

October 27, 2010

Huronia Museum ran its first ever PA Day Camp on October 25, this was for the public elementary school board.  We are off to a pretty good start.  We had 10 children attend our inaugural camp and we all had a good.  A few of our summer campers returned to us, but we also had a number of new kids as well.

Ironman comes to Huronia Museum

Since the day was so close to Halloween our theme for the day is obvious, a few of our campers even came in costume.  I also took the opportunity to dress up a little because there are too few occasions where you can wear sequined cat ears all day without raising a few eyebrows.  We started off by decorating our own trick or treat bags to take out on the big night.  Bryan treated everyone to a few “scary stories” by the glow of our orange Halloween lights.  We also did a mummy wrap completion, which is a bit of a waste of toilet paper, but was so much fun it actually drew staff from other parts of the museum to come and take part.  We were even fortunate enough to have the weather give us a beautiful fall day, which meant we got to go outside and play in the village and even visit the park after lunch.

Our next PA Day Camp is on November 19, this one will be for the Catholic school board.  There hasn’t been a theme chosen yet but it will definitely be something fun.

Because there are a limited number of spaces available for these camps pre-registration is required.  For more information or to sign up for our PA Day Camp please contact Gillian at 526-2844 or email to education@huroniamuseum.com

Decorating Trick or Treat bags

October 10, 2010

In order to try and offer more child care options to working parents we will be offering PA Day camps this fall.  Just like our summer and March break camps they will operate out of the museum and will be run by museum staff.

Our first camp will be taking place on Monday, October 25.  Since it is so close to Halloween we thought that would be the perfect theme.  We will have halloween games and crafts as well as spending some time in the park (weather permitting).  This camp will be running from 9 AM to 5PM on the 25th and the cost is $20 per child.

Our next camp will be on November 19, with the same hours and price as the camp on October 25th.  We haven’t chosen a theme for that yet, but we will have lots of fun activities to keep the kids occupied.

These one day camps will have limited registration so we strongly recommend preregistering to guarantee a spot for your child.

If you have any questions or would like to register please contact Gillian at Huronia Museum, at 526-2844 or email me at education@huroniamuseum.com
