One thing that often surprises people about Huronia Museum is that we are open throughout the winter months, completely open, including the village. But rain or shine, sleat or hail, or -25 degrees we are open to the public.
Just this past weekend, when many of you may recall it was bitterly cold, we had a group of cubs from the area come out to work on their Aboriginal Awareness Badges. We spent almost an hour and a half in the village, grinding corn, climbing the lookout tower and working with bow drills. Then it was inside the museum to make okis and explore the native artifact room before they had to head out for lunch.
All in all I think a good time was had by everyone and I am certainly happy that they came. Tomorrow I am expecting a group of scouts visiting the area. The weather challenges are a little different this time but I think we will have fun anyway.
